In OS X it is recommended that you use an FTP
client such as Fetch, Transmit or the Freeware
client CyberDuck, as the operating system currently
does not support the uploading of files through
the FTP protocol.
For FTP client users, you must set in your FTP
application's preferences to Use Passive FTP Mode
Transfers as illustrated in Fetch. For OS X users,
this must also be set in the system preferences
panel. To do this, select the Network icon in
the Internet and Network section. Then select
the Proxies tab and make sure the Use Passive
FTP Mode (PASV) box is checked as illustrated.
